Overview

About the role

We're looking for a Senior Account Manager to join our Consumer team in Sydney.

Working across a portfolio of some of Australia's and the world's most recognised brands, you'll deliver integrated earned-first communications campaigns that build brands, shape conversations and create cultural relevance.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll own day-to-day client relationships, provide confident counsel to senior stakeholders and keep campaigns moving from brief through to delivery. Whether it's launching a new product, delivering a national media event, developing creative campaign ideas or responding to breaking news opportunities, you'll be trusted to make things happen.

You'll work closely with senior leaders while taking ownership of your own accounts, leading integrated teams, mentoring junior consultants and helping create work that delivers real business impact.

No two days look the same—but you'll spend your time developing standout stories, building strong media relationships, managing integrated campaigns, delivering events, advising clients and identifying proactive opportunities that keep our clients ahead of the conversation.

What we're looking for in you

First and foremost, we want you to live our values: Show Up Fearless, Stay Curious, Be Kind and Go Home Proud. Team culture is everything to us.

We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced agency environment and loves building brands through earned-first communications. You're a strong consultant, an exceptional organiser and someone clients trust to get things done. You enjoy leading campaigns from end to end, building lasting relationships with media and clients, and helping those around you grow.

You're equally comfortable running a media event, pitching a national story, presenting to clients or rolling up your sleeves to keep a campaign on track. Most importantly, you're proactive, curious and always looking for opportunities to deliver work that has real impact.

In terms of skills and experience, ideally, you'll have:

  • Around 5-7 years' experience in PR, communications or integrated communications.
  • Outstanding project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple campaigns, deadlines and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Strong media relationships across consumer, lifestyle and news media, with a track record of developing and landing compelling stories.
  • Experience planning and delivering media events, launches and campaign activations.
  • The confidence to build trusted client relationships and provide thoughtful day-to-day strategic counsel.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills across media materials, campaign assets and client communications.
  • Experience mentoring and developing junior consultants, creating a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
  • Strong organisational and commercial skills, with experience managing budgets, timelines and account profitability.
  • A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working across integrated agency teams to deliver outstanding work.

What we can offer you

  • The opportunity to work with some of Australia's and the world's most recognised brands.
  • A dedicated Career Manager and industry-leading learning and development opportunities.
  • Unrivalled career growth and progression within our strengths-based culture.
  • The autonomy to own your work, build lasting client relationships and bring creativity to everything you do.

At Herd MSL, we encourage our people to work in a way that provides balance, and we pride ourselves on fostering a behaviour-led approach to flexibility. We're ambitious, collaborative and genuinely enjoy working together, creating an environment where people are encouraged to learn, challenge themselves and do their best work.

As part of our team, you'll also enjoy flexible working, Birthday Leave, industry-leading parental leave, health and wellbeing support, volunteering leave, additional leave with tenure and access to some of the best learning, mentoring and career development opportunities in the industry.

If you're a relationship-builder who loves creating great work, thrives on leading campaigns and wants to work with some of the world's most recognised brands, we'd love to hear from you.
