52k Forklift & Heavy Equipment Operator
Forklift/Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating Heavy Duty 35k or 52k forklifts.
The Forklift/Heavy Equipment Operator must be familiar with various types of operating controls on heavy machinery. Lift operator must be able to multitask between manufacturing, and production shops. Lift Operator must be able to perform a variety of skilled tasks in and around the plant. Lift Operator must adhere to NOV XL Systems Quality, Safety and departmental policies and procedures.
- Operates and maintains forklift truck to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Transports material in between departments.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and trailers
- Maintain a steady flow of material through the yard.
- Oversee the condition of the entire yard, all roads and pipe racks.
- Communicate and coordinate with previous shift driver and relief driver. Proper and thorough turn-over.
- Know the Beaumont yard layout.
- Know proper marking and identification of pipe.
- Return tools to proper places at the end of each shift.
- Perform preoperational checks on forklifts and report all service concerns.
- Know and adhere to proper moving and handling procedures of XL Systems products.
- Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the grounds through regular inspection and maintenance.
- Ensure company equipment and material is maintained, kept clean, and stored in a safe manner.
- Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and machinery
- Complete required paperwork, reporting, and other documentation as required
- Read gauges, dials, and other indicators, adjusting them is necessary.
- Troubleshoot heavy equipment; ability to detect and fix operating problems.
- Ability to lead a team in the absence of Material Control Manager.
- Perform all tasks and duties in harmony with other employees to create and maintain a safe working environment.
Ensure compliance of the company’s QHSE policies, and corporate code and overall company’s objectives
Other duties as defined by Facility Material Manager
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience operating 35,000 lb. and/or 52,000 lb. capacity forklifts.
- Previous experience operating forklifts in an industrial, manufacturing, warehouse, or pipe yard environment.
- Valid forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification.
- Ability to safely load, unload, transport, and stage materials.
- Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform minor equipment maintenance.
- Ability to inspect equipment and recognize mechanical or operational issues.
- Ability to work safely in an outdoor industrial environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a pipe yard, OCTG, steel distribution, or oil and gas manufacturing environment.
- Experience moving oversized or heavy industrial products.
- Previous experience leading or coordinating daily work activities.
