We're looking for a civil engineer who will be working on our mining and heavy industry projects in our office in Bedford, NS. If you have 3 to 8 years of engineering experience we would like to hear from you!
Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager in day-to-day execution of mining-related projects
- Act as the coordination link between design teams, field/construction teams, and the Project Manager
- Track project schedules, deliverables, and key milestones to ensure work stays on track
- Maintain and regularly update action item logs, decision trackers, and progress reports for the PM
- Coordinate and follow up with internal discipline teams (environment, civil, geotechnical, hydrology, etc.) to ensure timely delivery
- Assist in reviewing drawings, specifications, and technical documents for completeness and constructability
- Support construction activities by responding to RFIs, facilitating information flow, and resolving day-to-day site issues
- Monitor field progress and identify potential risks or delays; escalate issues early to the Project Manager
- Attend coordination meetings (internal and external), document meeting minutes, and track follow-up actions
- Assist with contractor coordination, including reviewing submittals, schedules, and work plans
- Ensure alignment between design intent and field execution through regular communication with site teams
- Track project costs, quantities, and progress metrics to support budget and reporting requirements
- Support change management processes, including identifying scope changes and assisting with documentation
- Maintain organized project documentation, including drawings, correspondence, and approvals
- Promote safety, quality, and compliance with project requirements and standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- 3–8 years of experience in civil engineering projects, preferably in mining or heavy infrastructure
- Experience working on projects involving roads, earthworks, drainage, culverts, or water management systems
- Strong understanding of project delivery processes (design, procurement, and construction phases)
- Proven ability to coordinate between multiple stakeholders (design teams, contractors, and clients)
- Familiarity with construction practices and field execution in a mining or infrastructure environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to track and manage project data (schedules, action items, RFIs, deliverables)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with common project tools (e.g., Excel, scheduling software, document control systems)
- Willingness to spend time in both office and field environments as required
- EIT or P.Eng. designation (or working toward it) is considered an asset
- Practical, problem-solving mindset with a strong focus on execution and follow-through
