GENERAL OVERVIEW
Moss New York is a private members club in Midtown Manhattan dedicated to intelligent leisure and physical culture, blending cultural programming, social connection, and well-being across five floors. Within Moss, Bedrock serves as the club's state-of-the-art fitness and wellness destination, offering premium gym facilities, aquatics, spa, and recovery experiences.
We are seeking a talented and experienced Licensed Barber, Hairstylist & Makeup Artist to join the Bedrock Spa team. The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering exceptional grooming, hairstyling, and beauty services in a luxury hospitality environment. This role requires technical excellence, attention to detail, and a commitment to creating personalized experiences that help members look and feel their best.
CLASSIFICATION
This role is classified as an independent contractor. As a contractor, you acknowledge and agree that you are engaged as an independent contractor and not as an employee, agent, partner, or joint venture of Moss New York or it's affiliates. As an independent contractor, the contractor shall be solely responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes, including income tax, self-employment tax, and any other taxes, fees, or assessments arising from the compensation received under this agreement. The company will not withhold or remit any taxes on the contractor’s behalf. The Contractor understands to comply with all applicable tax filing and payment obligations.
Independent contractors will be compensated on a Net 15 basis upon submission of an invoice to the business, along with a valid Form W-9 (including either a Social Security Number or Business EIN).
All independent contractors are required to maintain appropriate insurance coverage. A current Certificate of Insurance must be provided and approved prior to performing services or being granted access to club facilities.

The Contractor understands that they are not entitled to employee benefits provided by the Company, including but not limited to health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, or unemployment insurance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide professional barbering services including precision haircuts, fades, beard trims, hot towel shaves, and grooming treatments.
- Perform hairstyling services including haircuts, blowouts, styling, and special occasion hair for all hair types and textures.
- Deliver professional makeup application services for daytime, evening, special events, photography, and member requests.
- Conduct thorough consultations to understand each member's preferences, lifestyle, and desired results while identifying any contraindications.
- Recommend appropriate hair, grooming, skincare, and cosmetic products to support ongoing maintenance and home care.
- Maintain all tools, equipment, and workstations in accordance with New York State sanitation regulations and Moss cleanliness standards.
- Provide exceptional, personalized service while maintaining professionalism, discretion, and member confidentiality.
- Ensure treatment and styling areas remain clean, organized, and reflective of Moss and Bedrock's luxury aesthetic.
- Collaborate with fellow wellness and spa practitioners to deliver integrated member experiences and support club programming.
- Participate in ongoing education, team meetings, product training, and professional development to remain current on industry trends and Moss service standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current New York State Barber License and/or Cosmetology License required.
- Makeup artistry certification or equivalent professional experience preferred.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a luxury salon, spa, hotel, private club, or hospitality environment preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in barbering, haircutting, styling, grooming, and professional makeup application.
- Experience working with diverse hair textures, skin tones, and client preferences.
- Strong knowledge of sanitation, infection control, and health and safety standards.
- Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills with a polished, professional demeanor.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and special events.
- CPR/AED certification preferred.
COMPENSATION
The hourly wage for this position is $20.00 per hour, with the eligibility for commission of 50% on all treatment sessions conducted and additional 18% gratuity for services.
