Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Unit Supervisor to lead and support a unionized maintenance crew in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role provides both hands-on technical troubleshooting and frontline supervisory leadership to ensure equipment reliability, production continuity, safety, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong maintenance experience, leadership capability, and the ability to drive rapid problem-solving in both planned and unplanned maintenance situations.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management: Supervise mechanical and electrical craft employees in a unionized environment; assign, prioritize, and coordinate daily maintenance work.
Safety Culture: Lead safety discussions, toolbox talks, and job-specific safety reviews to ensure a compliant work environment.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Provide hands-on technical troubleshooting for mechanical/electrical systems; lead root cause analysis for equipment failures.
Operational Execution: Execute planned/unplanned maintenance activities; support improvements in equipment reliability, recovery, and production efficiency.
Employee Development: Support employee development through coaching, training, and performance feedback; manage crewing decisions for shifts.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
Minimum 3 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience with direct reports.
Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical and/or electrical systems.
Experience working in a production or industrial maintenance environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior supervisory experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with labor agreements and workforce management practices.
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
Experience in heavy industrial or continuous production environments.
Work Schedule
12-hour rotating shifts (day and night).
Schedule rotation determined by department needs.
