HR Manager
About Lawhive
Our mission is to make the law accessible to everyone.
The legal industry is built on technology and processes that haven’t been updated in hundreds of years - that's why we've reinvented the entire model from the ground up with our own bespoke AI operating system at the core.
Lawhive is a regulated law firm with an AI-native platform built to amplify expertise and revolutionize the way people practice law, leading to exceptional outcomes for clients and lawyers.
Lawhive Labs is how we bring this vision to life. It's our frontier lab that combines top engineering, design, AI and legal talent from around the world, joining forces to build the future of law.
We’re backed by top-tier investors, including Google Ventures, Balderton Capital and TQ Ventures, and in December 2025, we secured $60M Series B funding round to facilitate international expansion and to grow our team.
We’re headquartered in London and in 2025 successfully launched in the US…and we’re just getting started.
The Role
As our US HR Manager, you'll own day-to-day HR operations for employees across multiple acquired businesses. You'll be the trusted first point of contact for employees nationwide, guiding them through everything from onboarding and benefits to leave policies and employee relations. You'll also act as the primary relationship owner for our PEO, ensuring our HR infrastructure scales effectively while maintaining compliance across all states we operate within.
As we continue to grow across the United States through both organic expansion and acquisitions, you'll be responsible for helping newly acquired teams transition into our ecosystem while ensuring employees receive an exceptional experience from day one. You'll partner closely with leadership, our Professional Employer Organization (PEO), Finance, and Operations to ensure compliance, consistency, and a high bar for employee support across every state we operate in.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building processes from scratch, thrives in ambiguity, and is excited by the pace of a high-growth company executing an acquisition strategy.
What You'll Do
Serve as the primary HR contact for employees across acquired businesses throughout the US
Establish and, where required, lead employee onboarding processes and integration following acquisitions, ensuring a seamless transition into our operating model
Manage the relationship with our PEO, acting as the key stakeholder across payroll, benefits, HRIS, compliance, and employee lifecycle processes
Advise managers and employees on HR policies, employee relations, performance issues, leave management, and workplace concerns
Maintain expert knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, ensuring policies and practices remain compliant across multiple jurisdictions
Monitor legislative changes and implement policy updates where required
Support benefits enrollment, employee communications, and issue resolution with our PEO and benefit providers
Build scalable HR processes and documentation that can be consistently deployed as we acquire additional businesses
Work with the Director of People & Talent and broader People team to ensure HR due diligence and integration planning during acquisitions, identifying people-related risks and ensuring smooth operational execution
Ensure our PEO maintains accurate employee records and support HR reporting, audits, and compliance activities
Partner with Finance on compensation administration and employee data management
Help foster a culture that balances high performance with empathy, transparency, and accountability
What You'll Bring
7+ years of progressive HR experience, including supporting multi-state US workforces
Strong working knowledge of federal employment law and state-by-state HR compliance, including leave laws, wage and hour regulations, paid sick leave requirements, benefits and employee classifications
Experience working with a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) such as TriNet, Rippling, Insperity, Justworks, ADP TotalSource, or similar
Experience supporting M&A integrations or rapidly scaling organizations is highly desirable - bonus points if you’ve worked in an MSO
Comfortable operating as a hands-on HR generalist while also building 0-1 strategic people operations
Excellent judgment when handling confidential and sensitive employee matters
Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously
Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of an organization
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
Experience with HRIS systems (we use HiBob so this is ideal) and employee data management
SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR certification is a plus
