Health Educator, Full Time, Morristown Medical Center
The health educator I plans, coordinates, and implements pediatric and family- focused community health outreach programs at Atlantic Health Goryeb Children's Hospital and surrounding areas. This role serves as a community resource, develops educational materials, and collaborates with schools and health partners to promote wellness and address community health needs. The position requires strong communication skills, program development experience, and expertise in public health education.
Principal Accountabilities:
Plans, coordinates, implements and evaluates pediatric community outreach programs to meet community needs on a variety of health-related topics.
- Serve as community resource person for outreach events and programs on behalf of Atlantic Health Goryeb Children’s Hospital and Children’s Health.
- Serve as community resource person for student and parent engagement through schools by creating initiatives, providing resources, deploying outreach, programs in schools and online, and e-newsletters to Atlantic Health Goryeb Children's Hospital service area.
- Initiative and provide resources and ongoing consultation to schools within the scope of Atlantic Health system.
- Respond and coordinate requests for community events and speaker requests.
- Research and conduct evidence-based presentations in the community on a variety of health-related topics.
- Assist with grant writing, as needed.
- Web design and content creation for TeenhealthFX.com, as needed.
- Participates in activities which further professional growth and development. Demonstrated through meeting attendance, maintenance of appropriate certifications, and attendance at updates, as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required:
1. Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Education and Promotion, Nutrition or related field.
2. Experience in Health Promotion programs
3. Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), or CHES eligible.
4. CPR and First Aid Certification.
5. Valid state driver's license
6. Night/Weekend availability required, as needed.
7. Pick up approximately 30 pounds for giveaways/events.
Preferred:
1. Master's degree in Public Health, Health Education and Promotion, Nutrition or related field.
2. 2 years of experience in Health Education or relevant area.
3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
4. Bilingual in Spanish language, a plus.
