Description:

The Infection Prevention Technician provides foundational support to the Infection Prevention & Control Program through data collection and entry, hand hygiene, and isolation observations, rounding logistics, educational material preparation, basic policy support, and general coordination. The role supports IP practitioners in surveillance, regulatory readiness, and quality improvement initiatives.

Essential Functions:

  • Retrieve data and device utilization reports; perform accurate data entry and review for infection prevention databases
  • Support mandatory public health department reporting
  • Conduct hand hygiene and isolation precaution observations, prepare results for dissemination
  • Participate in unit and clinic rounds with clinical and non-clinical staff to complete standardized tools and checklist
  • Support regulatory survey readiness by conducting traces, creating evidence of standard compliance files, and continuing to audit overall compliance
  • Assist with exposure follow-up logistics
  • Prepare educational material
  • Maintain departmental documentation
  • Support policy and procedure review cycles
  • Provide Infection Prevention committee support with agendas, minutes, etc.
  • Assist with construction/ICRA documentation
  • Participate in regional committees i.e. Environment of Care, etc.
  • Conducts annual departmental fit testing
  • Participate in teams and drills associated with Emergency Management

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma required, Associate/Bachelor's in health-related field strongly preferred
  • Travel between Gottlieb, Loyola, MacNeal Hospitals and ambulatory sites required

Compensation:

Pay range: $67,828-$105,144

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
