Potelco, Inc. is looking for a great VP of Finance to join our corporate team in Sumner, WA. This role provides strategic financial leadership and oversight across two business lines, partnering closely with operational and executive leadership to drive financial performance, accounting integrity, and process excellence. The VP of Finance reports to the CFO and leads a team of finance professionals supporting project accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting functions.

What You'll Do

Leadership & Strategy

· Provide financial leadership and strategic guidance across two business lines

· Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team

· Partner with business line leaders and executive management to support operational and financial decision-making

· Drive process improvements and standardization across finance functions

Accounting & Financial Operations

· Oversee and manage the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

· Direct project accounting functions, including job costing, revenue recognition, and project financial performance

· Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) across all financial reporting

· Review and approve financial statements, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules

· Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for both business lines

Reporting & Compliance

· Prepare and present financial reports and analysis to executive leadership

· Ensure internal controls are designed, implemented, and maintained effectively

· Coordinate with external auditors and support audit processes

· Ensure internal controls are designed, implemented, maintained, and in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws.

· Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies and applicable regulations

 

· Other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Adminstration or related field

· 10+ years of progressive finance/accounting leadership experience

· Experience in construction, utility, or infrastructure industries

· Active CPA license

· Strong working knowledge of GAAP

· Demonstrated experience in project accounting

· Proven experience leading, developing, and managing finance teams

· Strong knowledge of month-end close processes and financial reporting

· Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

· High level of integrity and dependability, with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.

· Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems

 

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience supporting multiple business lines or divisions within a single organization

· MBA or advanced finance/accounting credential

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $170,000.00/Yr. - USD $210,000.00/Yr. depending on experience and qualifications.
