As the lead Architect for a number of areas including People & Culture, this role will define and drive the technology architecture strategy for the HR domain, ensuring alignment with business priorities, enterprise architecture standards, and future workforce transformation needs. The individual will bring deep expertise in HR applications, HR processes, and employee lifecycle technologies, combining strategic architectural leadership with hands-on technical delivery.

- Own the architecture roadmap across HR platforms and technologies, including Workday, talent acquisition, learning, skills, performance, workforce planning, employee experience, and related enterprise systems.
- Develop and maintain architecture principles, reference architectures, integration patterns, and technology standards for the HR domain.
- Partner with business, product, security, data, and enterprise architecture teams to ensure solutions align with strategic outcomes and enterprise capabilities.
- Guide technology investment decisions and evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-enabled HR capabilities.
2. Hands-On Architecture & Development

- Contribute to code, POCs, APIs, integrations, and services
- Build reusable frameworks and integration patterns
- Solve complex production issues with root-cause fixes
- Provide architectural leadership throughout the delivery lifecycle, ensuring designs are translated into robust, scalable implementations.
3. Integration Engineering (Core Focus)

- Develop REST/SOAP APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems (Kafka, queues)
- Work with MuleSoft/Boomi or build custom integration layers
- Define and govern the enterprise integration strategy for the P&C ecosystem, ensuring consistent, secure, and scalable connectivity across HR platforms, corporate systems, and external providers.
- Establish reusable API, event, and integration patterns that accelerate delivery and reduce technical debt.
4. Cloud-Native Development
- Architect solutions on AWS/Azure/GCP
- Build serverless, containerized, and microservices-based systems
- Manage CI/CD, IaC, deployment automation, and optimize performance, scalability, and cost
5. AI & Modern Tech Enablement
- Integrate AI/ML (NLP, GenAI, recommendation systems) into applications
- Build real-time and batch data pipelines
- Apply responsible AI practices (privacy, security, bias mitigation)
- Exposure to MLOps (model lifecycle, monitoring, versioning)
- Identify practical AI use cases and expose via APIs
- Lead the architectural adoption of AI capabilities across the People & Culture technology portfolio, ensuring solutions comply with responsible AI, security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
6. Engineering Excellence
- Enforce coding standards and perform code reviews
- Ensure observability (logging, monitoring, tracing)
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering and solution architecture teams, promoting engineering best practices and architectural consistency.
7. Collaboration & Delivery
- Translate business needs into working solutions
- Partner with Dev, QA, DevOps teams
- Act as SME during critical releases
- Work closely with HR stakeholders and product teams to translate People & Culture business requirements into scalable technology solutions.
Required Skills & Experience
- 10–12+ years in software engineering with strong hands-on coding
- Experience integrating SaaS/non-SaaS systems, APIs, microservices
- Proficiency in Java / Python / Node.js
- Experience with MuleSoft/Boomi, Kafka/RabbitMQ, AWS/Azure/GCP
- Strong understanding of REST/SOAP, OAuth2/JWT, JSON/XML, system design
- Extensive experience architecting and delivering enterprise HR technology solutions, including platforms such as Workday, SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, Cornerstone, Eightfold, HiredScore, or equivalent HR ecosystems.
- Strong understanding of HR business processes and data domains, including hire-to-retire, talent acquisition, onboarding, learning, performance, compensation, skills, succession, workforce planning, and employee experience.
- Demonstrated experience acting as a lead or chief architect, defining architecture strategy, integration standards, and technology roadmaps for a business domain.
Preferred Certifications: TOGAF, Cloud Architect (AWS/Azure/GCP), MuleSoft/Boomi. TOGAF certification or equivalent architecture qualification strongly preferred.
What We're Looking For
- Strong coder who enjoys solving real problems
- Comfortable debugging and building POCs
- Balances architecture with execution
- Challenges poor design decisions with solid reasoning
- Deep HR technology expertise combined with the ability to shape strategic direction and personally drive implementation.
- A leader who can establish architecture vision, influence senior stakeholders, and remain hands-on when solving complex technical challenges.
