KYC Operations Analyst 2 (Quality Checker)

The KYC Operations Senior Analyst is an intermediate-level professional responsible for executing Anti-Money Laundering (AML) monitoring, governance, and regulatory reporting activities. This role is integral to the development and management of Citi's internal Know Your Client (KYC) program. The ideal candidate will apply in-depth disciplinary knowledge to contribute to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and workflow. Operating with a high degree of independence, this individual will ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, safeguarding the firm's reputation and assets.

  • Independently reviews quality, validates, verifies, and signs off on the files completed by the Maker/Checker to ensure full accuracy, compliance, and procedural alignment before final approval and system submission.
  • Act as a critical review point for KYC records and submissions from junior analysts across global hubs, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established procedures.
  • Conduct and analyze complex Enhanced Due Diligence, client name screening dispositions, and sanctions reviews for high-risk client profiles.
  • Proactively identify, analyze, and escalate potential money laundering risks, suspicious activities, and compliance deficiencies to senior management with transparency.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on KYC matters, providing guidance and support to senior stakeholders, private bankers, and other team members.
  • Liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders to manage exceptions, resolve complex issues, and facilitate a seamless and efficient onboarding experience.
  • Develop and prepare detailed client risk assessments, exception management reports, and various Management Information System (MIS) reports to support management reviews and strategic decision-making.
  • Lead initiatives to streamline and re-engineer the KYC and onboarding workflow by conducting gap analyses of current processes against evolving policies and leveraging proficiency with relevant AI tools.
  • Assume project management responsibilities as needed, including the development of project plans, conducting risk analyses, and providing regular progress updates to senior leadership.
  • Drive and ensure adherence to all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, applying sound ethical judgment in all business practices to protect Citigroup, its clients, and its reputation.
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy and limited direct supervision, exercising independent judgment to make sound business and risk-related decisions.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members, fostering an environment of open, direct, and effective communication.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in KYC/AML process, compliance, operations, risk & control functions
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, pro-active team player but also able to work independently, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across levels, businesses, and geographies
  • Highly motivated, persistent, and able to work in a structured, high volume, time sensitive, high-risk environment
  • Capable of multitasking and eager to learn multiple products in a challenging environment. Fast learner, strong attention to detail, and willingness to go extra mile
  • Proficient in handling urgent and escalation cases and manage internal team expectations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient knowledge of English (written and spoken)
