The Application Engineer is primarily responsible for preparation of technical and commercial customer proposals during the sales process. He/She will exhibit genuine interest in solving work problems through proactively asking questions, clearly communicating and collaborating both internally and externally to grow the business. In addition, the Application Engineer is responsible for understanding our competition and customers and showing initiative to learn and continuously improve company processes.

The Application Engineer assists in developing and maintaining tools used in the front-end engineering and quotation process. These tools include Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and Access databases, as well as our ERP database. Also, would assist in organizing and modification of control system drawings, sales literature and promotional documentation.

- Work to distill and organize technical and commercial proposal data into spreadsheets and word documents and/or databases.

- Analyze project requirements and gather necessary information to prepare proposals.

- Work to get external offers from possible sub-vendors and evaluate which is technically and commercially adequate as part of CCC solution.

- Prepare comprehensive technical proposals, including scope of work, project timelines, and cost estimates.

- Conduct technical research and feasibility studies to support proposal development.

- Ensure that proposals comply with company standards and meet client specifications.

- Collaborate with the procurement team to obtain accurate pricing and availability of materials and services.

- Review and revise proposals based on client feedback and requirements.

- Coordinate with project managers and engineers to ensure a smooth transition from proposal to project execution.

- Participate in pre-bid meetings and technical discussions with clients.

- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitors’ offerings to enhance proposal competitiveness.

- Assist in preparing presentation materials for client meetings and bid presentations.

- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple proposals simultaneously.

- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in proposal preparation.

- Provide fundamental technical support for the sales process, and specific assigned front-end engineering projects.

- Provide technical analysis, troubleshooting and solutions 

- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.

- Maintain sensitive and confidential information regarding company information.

- Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required.

- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

- University Degree in Engineering

-more than 7 years of experience in control systems engineering or related field or related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

- Have analytical skills to recognize patterns in data, information or events to draw logical conclusions and make recommendations for action. 

- Ability to efficiently use all Microsoft Office products.

- Ability to operate test equipment and obtain measurements and data. 

- To use established computer programs to input data, run queries and perform analysis.

- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 

- Provide limited technical knowledge in specific areas of engineering aspects. 

- Demonstrated ability to continuously learn.

- Ability to read, speak, and write in English required.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment: Proposal engineers typically work in an office setting, collaborating with various teams and departments within the organization. The work environment is professional and focused, with a mix of individual tasks and team meetings.

 

Office Hours: The standard working hours for a Proposal Engineer are typically Monday to Friday (8 hours daily),. However, some flexibility in working hours may be required to accommodate client deadlines or project requirements.

 

Travel: Proposal engineers may be required to travel occasionally to attend client meetings, pre-bid discussions, industry conferences or to conduct site survey. The extent of travel may vary based on the nature of the projects and client locations.

 

Deadlines: Proposal engineers often work under deadlines and face time-sensitive fast track bids. This can lead to periods of high workload, especially when multiple proposals need to be prepared simultaneously. Effective time management and the ability to work well under pressure are essential skills for this role.

 

Collaboration: Proposal engineers collaborate closely with sales teams, project managers, engineers, and other internal stakeholders. This involves effective communication, coordination, and the ability to work as part of a team.

 

Additional Technical Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Turbomachinery Control Systems, including compressor, gas turbine, and steam turbine control philosophies and operational requirements.
  • Experience with Anti-Surge Control (ASC) systems for centrifugal compressors, including surge curve interpretation, control valve sizing concepts, performance monitoring, and tuning methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Gas Turbine Control Systems, including startup/shutdown sequences, fuel control, combustion management, load control, speed control, emissions control, and protection systems.
  • Knowledge of Steam Turbine Control Systems, including governor control, speed/load control, extraction and admission control, overspeed protection, turbine supervision, and trip systems.
  • Understanding of Compressor Control Applications, including capacity control, recycle control, performance optimization, and machinery protection integration.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and practices related to turbomachinery control, machinery protection, and process automation.
  • Knowledge of PLC systems, including system architecture, controller configuration, I/O design, redundancy concepts, and industrial automation applications.
  • Experience with major automation platforms such as Allen-Bradley (Rockwell), Siemens, Schneider Electric, GE, Honeywell, Yokogawa, Emerson DeltaV, and ABB is preferred.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols including Modbus RTU/TCP, OPC UA, OPC DA, Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, ProfiBus, Foundation Fieldbus, HART, and Serial Communications.
  • Understanding of control system networking, cybersecurity fundamentals, industrial Ethernet infrastructure, and remote monitoring solutions.
  • Ability to analyze process dynamics and develop control strategies, perform control loop tuning, and support system troubleshooting and optimization activities.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs and PFDs, control narratives, cause & effect diagrams, instrument data sheets, and control system architecture drawings.
  • Ability to perform technical evaluations of customer specifications and develop compliant automation and turbomachinery control system solutions.
