HVAC Truck Based Sr. Controls Technician

Role Overview As an HVAC Truck Based Senior Controls Technician, you will perform control systems programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, and preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and low-voltage controls components. You will be the customer’s trusted technical contact, helping resolve service issues, improve building performance, and recommend practical solutions at the time of service. Key Responsibilities Perform HVAC control systems programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, installation, and preventative maintenance. Respond to service and warranty calls using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools, along with hand tools and electronic test equipment. Provide front-line technical and repair support to Johnson Controls customers. Recommend system repairs, updates, and improvements, and support proposal development when needed. Load field and network level controller software. Perform commissioning and system diagnostics for controllers and end devices such as sensors and actuators. Complete commissioning documentation, as-built updates, and on-site records. Communicate job progress, issues, arrival, and departure status with customers, contractors, and management. Deliver service that helps customers solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related issues. Follow safety standards and attend required safety training. How You Will Do It Own your work with accountability, safety, and integrity while performing field service tasks and completing work accurately. Stay close to the customer and the job site by communicating clearly on arrival, progress, issues, and completion. Use diagnostics and calibration to find the root cause, then apply practical fixes using Johnson Controls tools and basic electronic test equipment. Keep improving every day through training, careful documentation, and consistent problem-solving. Work as one team by sharing information with management, contractor personnel, and customers to keep projects moving. Complete administrative tasks such as time sheets, expense reports, and documentation needed for as-builts and job closeout. Provide recommendations and quotes that support efficient facility operation and informed customer decisions. Qualifications Vocational School, a four-year program, or an Associate degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning, or a similar field, plus three years of industry experience; or 2+ years of experience servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems in the HVAC industry. Strong understanding of HVAC systems, sequence, and applications. Demonstrated technical aptitude in mechanical and electro-mechanical fields. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment such as a multimeter. Solid working knowledge of personal computers. Attention to detail and strong documentation habits. Good communication and listening skills. HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $32.64-$48.99 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
