This role is part of Alcon's Manufacturing function, a team that designs, produces and delivers innovative eyecare products to more than 140 countries through operational excellence and efficiency.

The Operator III, Production Management (Para-Professional & Support Path) is responsible for performing advanced production and packaging operations in support of the Custom Pak department at our manufacturing facility in Houston, TX. This role includes setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment to ensure efficient, high-quality production while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Specifics Includes:

  • Perform advanced production tasks including assembly, material processing, forming, or packaging, ensuring adherence to established specifications and quality standards

  • Execute a variety of production operations (repetitive and non-repetitive), including component assembly, bonding, plastic joining, wrapping, packaging, and basic product testing

  • Set up, operate, monitor, and adjust packaging equipment to optimize performance, quality, and efficiency

  • Restock packaging materials and ensure continuous equipment operation

  • Perform packaging activities such as packing, wrapping, securing, and labeling containers

  • Conduct routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime and support efficient operations

  • Follow detailed production schedules and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GxP), including proper documentation and inspection of products

  • Identify, report, and support resolution of non-conformances and production issues

  • Participate in quality checks and continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing principles

  • Track productivity metrics and support achievement of Safety, Quality, People, Delivery, and Cost (SQPDC) targets

  • Assist with capacity analysis and workflow optimization within assigned areas

  • Lead or support team meetings and collaborate across functions to drive operational improvements

  • Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety procedures, properly using PPE, and proactively identifying hazards

  • Demonstrate leadership on the production line, including training, mentoring, and guiding team members and temporary workers

  • Communicate effectively, show initiative and sound judgment, and escalate concerns appropriately

  • Utilize systems such as Email, Workday, Veeva, HSNet, TrackWise, and IQS for training and documentation purposes

  • Maintain required certifications (e.g., line clearance in production-related systems such as PPS or CNSPPS)

  • Operate automated or semi-automated equipment as required

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English

  • Work Hours: 2nd Shift: Monday – Thursday: 4:15 PM CST – 2:45 AM CST

  • Travel Requirements: 0-5%

  • Location: Onsite

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, or regulated environment (e.g., pharmaceutical, medical device, or GMP setting)

  • Experience operating and troubleshooting automated or semi-automated production equipment

  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or Six Sigma principles

  • Prior leadership or line lead experience in a production environment

  • Familiarity with GxP, SOPs, and quality systems such as TrackWise or Veeva

  • Strong computer skills and experience with production or enterprise systems
