The Job:  

The Power Electronics Engineer is responsible for leading the design and development of new hand operated and automated power tools for the industrial market. Tools will include corded, and battery powered precision torque drivers developed for our Stanley Assembly Technologies group and hydraulic, pneumatic and battery powered riveting tools for our industrial group. Primary responsibilities will include overseeing the hardware development process for core products and managing all aspects of advanced development projects through production release.  Individuals will drive the advancement of core competencies, design best practices and knowledge-based engineering while incorporating these principles into new designs.

You’ll get to:

  • Identify and convert the product specifications into hardware requirements by interacting with Project leaders, software development team, customer support department and marketing team.
  • Simulation: Experience in LTspice simulation
  • Experience in MATLAB/Ansys/PSIM (any one) simulation
  • Own the board layout, working with Electrical Engineers, PCB Design Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Project Leaders to ensure designs are on schedule with high quality and reliability.
  • Board bring up, Power bring up and testing with Lab equipment’s like Power Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope, DMM, Logic analyzer etc.
  • Coordinating with external vendors for prototyping, mass production and supply chain related issues
  • Complete documentation package including Circuit analysis, simulations, DFM, BOM, fabrication & assembly drawings

You also have: 

  • 7+ years of experience as a Power Electronics Engineer.
  • BS/BE/BTECH or MS/MTECH/ME in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of magnetics design, transformer design, thermal design.
  • Experience in design and development of High voltage power electronics converters like DC-DC, DC-AC, Inverters as per industry standards.
  • Strong fundamentals in MOSFETs, IGBTs, Thyristors, Rectifiers Power Management ICs (Gate Drivers, PWM Controllers, LDOs, Switching Regulators, LED Drivers)
  • Proven ability to design and develop High power electronic hardware, component selection, obsolescence management
  • Experience in driving techniques for DC/BLDC/PMSM/AC/Induction motor/Actuators
  • Knowledge in Altium Designer v21 or above is a plus
  • Expertise with simulation and circuit analysis using excel spreadsheet, LTSpice/ PSpice and MATLAB/Ansys/PSIM is mandatory
  • Conduct power system studies, such as load flow analysis, transient stability, and harmonic analysis, to assess system performance and reliability.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC, signal integrity & power integrity
  • Strong knowledge of Communication protocols like SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB, Ethernet, Wireless etc.
  • Knowledge of documentation package including Circuit analysis, simulations, DFM, WCCA, Derating analysis, BOM, Gerber, ODB++, fabrication & assembly drawings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence the organization and to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
  • Hands of experience with Lab tools and equipment like MSO, DSO, DMM, Spectrum analyzer, power analyzer, data logger, function generator, logic analyzer, electronic load, power supply etc.
