WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):
We are currently seeking an innovative recovery professional to serve as a Senior Community Recovery Manager (CRM) in support of the LA Wildfires Long-Term Recovery Operation in California. This is a term-limited, benefits eligible position expected to last until January, 31 2028. This is a hybrid position based in California, frequent travel to impacted communities will be required.
On January 8, 2025, the Los Angeles Wildfires, stoked by the Santa Ana winds, eventually burned large swaths of highly urbanized sections of Los Angeles County. The wildfires destroyed more than 16,000 structures in California. For those impacted, recovery remains a long road. The American Red Cross remains on the ground to support impacted households and coordinate with stakeholders.
The position supports the American Red Cross’s Long-Term Recovery Program to support impacted communities, providing recovery programming and services to individuals, households, and communities affected by these wildfires.
The LA Wildfires Long-Term Recovery Senior Community Recovery Manager reports to the Director, Long-Term Recovery and serves as a critical Red Cross representative in an assigned geography when a Recovery Program is implemented post-disaster. The Senior Community Recovery Manager oversees the implementation of the community recovery program, which includes acting as a convenor, facilitative leader, and problem solver in recovery efforts alongside impacted communities. The Senior Community Recovery Manager will work to utilize and continue to inform an established Red Cross strategy to develop and/or participate with Long Term Recovery Groups, Unmet Needs committees, and other coalitions of community leaders and stakeholders that will then identify and act on recovery priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Produce plans and reports as required.
- Supporting the efforts of the larger Long-Term Recovery Operation to inform the efforts of our grantmaking, community mobilization efforts, and preparedness strategies to maximize reach and impact, prioritizing the most under-resourced and vulnerable communities.
- Working in partnership with community leaders and stakeholders to
- Conduct community assessments to understand the impact of the storm, response and recovery efforts to date, and assess the gaps between needs and resources;
- Conduct strategic planning for community recovery interventions and facilitate meetings and broker action among multiple community sectors;
- Manage and direct outreach activities such as establishing contacts and attending community meetings;
- Direct the establishment of and work to maintain effective working relationships with community agencies, schools, businesses, various levels of government and the public;
- Monitoring progress through collecting data– both qualitative and quantitative.
- Ensure that American Red Cross and partner services are available to diverse communities.
- Communication and coordination of external activities with internal Red Cross departments to ensure a common operating picture is shared.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required
Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Skills & Abilities: Excellent team player with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including active listening and a demonstrated ability to build trust and consensus across teams, partners, and the communities served. Deep knowledge of community programming and service delivery, with the ability to represent the Fundamental Principles of the American Red Cross (humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality) in every client, partner, and public interaction. Skilled in developing presentations and training modules, and in creating project plans, budgets, and strategies to achieve organizational goals. Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills to drive creative, continuous improvement of programs and services. Proven track record of collaboration, facilitation, problem solving, marketing, leadership, and partnership management, with strong public speaking, project management, and process improvement abilities. Must be customer oriented, organized, solutions focused, and externally oriented, with a collaborative, team-first approach to all work. Intermediate proficiency with MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required. Familiarity with federal, state, and local employment laws. Must be able to perform all assigned responsibilities under "grey sky" requirements and ensure all American Red Cross finance policies and procedures are followed as related to the scope of work activity.

The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.

PAY INFORMATION: The annual salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000. We do not offer an annual bonus for this role. Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. **We will review specific salary information at the time of phone screening based upon your location & experience.**
