Responsibilities
The Enterprise Resiliency suite is seeking Software Engineers who enjoy solving complex engineering problems and building reliable, cloud-native software. Our teams develop APIs, automation, integrations, self-service platforms, and operational tooling that improve State Farm's resiliency and recovery capabilities. We build software that reduces manual effort, automates enterprise processes, and helps teams recover quickly and confidently during operational events.
This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy designing solutions, learning new technologies, and collaborating with others to build scalable, maintainable software. You do not need experience with every technology we use, but you should be comfortable reasoning through technical problems, explaining your approach, and continuously learning.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support enterprise scale internal software solutions.
- Build RESTful APIs, backend services, and automation that support enterprise resiliency initiatives.
- Develop cloud-native applications and integrations using modern engineering practices.
- Design software that is reliable, maintainable, observable, and secure.
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute ideas that improve scalability, resiliency, and operational excellence.
- Build automated testing into software and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.
- Monitor and support production applications while continuously improving reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with product owners, engineers, and business partners to deliver valuable software solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
What We're Looking For
Successful candidates are curious engineers who enjoy learning and solving problems.
You don't need to know every framework or AWS service we use, but you should be able to discuss how you would approach unfamiliar technical challenges, explain design decisions, and reason through tradeoffs.
We're interested in candidates who can demonstrate experience with the following:
- Building resilient backend services or REST APIs
- Designing software that is reliable, scalable, and maintainable
- Writing automated tests and participating in CI/CD pipelines
- Working with event-driven or asynchronous systems
- Troubleshooting production issues and improving operational reliability
- Collaborating with teammates through design discussions and code reviews
Preferred Technical Experience
Experience with some combination of:
- Java, Go, TypeScript, JavaScript, or other modern programming languages
- Developing applications in cloud environments (AWS experience is preferred)
- REST APIs and service-oriented architecture
- Event-driven architectures and messaging systems
- Kubernetes, OpenShift, or containerized applications
- CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Monitoring, logging, and observability tools
- Modern frontend frameworks such as Angular or React
Experience with disaster recovery, resiliency engineering, business continuity, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is a plus but not required.
Our Benefits
Because work-life balance is a priority at State Farm, compensation is based on our standard 38:45-hour work week!
- Potential starting salary range: $90,000 - $120,000
- Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
- High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
- Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary
