The state also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents. Basic Purpose: This position is responsible for daily operations of the museum’s gift shop. Essential Functions:Sales:Assists customers with item selection and finding specific items in the storeProcess sales in POS system, including cash handling and credit card processingProcesses online order sales in POS System and takes orders over the phonePacks and ships orders sold online or on the phone (or in store, as needed)Processes phone or in person ticket salesHelps patrons with membership sales and renewals by processing transactionsProcesses product returns or exchangesCalculates sales, totals, and taxes when POS system is offlineProcesses admissions fees, provides patrons with admissions stickers, maps, and provides an overview of museum featuresInventory:Performs an inventory count of selected vendors by month each monthCross-checks inventory countsOrganizes inventory in basement storage and museum store back room as neededHelps ensure that all products are on the sales floor as neededIdentifies expired or damaged inventory, completes necessary associated tracking paperwork, and removes items from inventoryReceives and processes inventory as it is delivered (including pricing and marking all items)Moves inventory as needed and implements markdowns of merchandise as authorized by the Museum leadership.Ensures all information in the POS system is correct for each itemAdds relevant items to the museum online store and notifies supervisor when items are low in stock as directed by supervisorCreates displays of inventoryCommunication:Notifies supervisor about visitor complaints, requests, or suggestionsNotifies supervisor when maintenance or cleaning needs to be doneProvides patrons with general information about the museum, the area, and the stateAnswers general OKNG Museum phone calls and directs them to the appropriate personAnswers museum store phone calls and provides information as well as conducting salesTakes messages for supervisorPromotion:Keeps all OKNG Museum/Tourism information stockedPromotes OKNG Museum programs and services to patronsPromotes Made in Oklahoma products and product linesOther:Ensures store is clean by performing light cleaning duties (dusting, sweeping, cleaning off fingerprints as needed)Keeps store supplies stocked/alerting supervisor when store supplies are running lowCompletes inventory control sheet when inventory is provided to other divisions (approved by museum director or agency director)Advises supervisor about any unusual circumstances or policy violations or safety concerns in any areas of the museum.This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
