Associate Researcher I-Center for Advanced Circuit Therapeutics (C-ACT)
The Center for Advanced Circuit Therapeutics (C-ACT) at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking an Associate Researcher to perform quantitative analyses of structural, diffusion, and functional brain images. Specific projects include preprocessing of resting state functional MRI and diffusion-weighted images, functional and structural connectivity analyses, and image segmentation and quantitative volumetric. Projects involve the development and implementation of treatment selection biomarkers, individualized multimodal surgical targeting methods, and longitudinal outcome metrics across a wide range of neuropsychiatric disorders, including Depression, OCD, Movement disorders, and Epilepsy. This is an excellent opportunity to participate in cutting-edge imaging research as a member of a multidisciplinary research team of technical and clinical experts with access to state-of-the-art imaging equipment.
This individual will be jointly supervised by Dr. Ki Sueng Choi, imaging leader at C-ACT, and Dr. Helen Mayberg, Director of C-ACT, and will have the opportunity to interact with a diverse team of investigators with complementary expertise in neuroimaging, psychiatry, neurology, neurosurgery, neuroengineering, computational neuroscience, and bioinformatics.
The Center for Advanced Circuit Therapeutics (C-ACT) is a new centralized research unit, embedded within the Clinical Center for Neuromodulation, Mount Sinai West. The Center supports research activities using imaging, invasive and noninvasive electrophysiology, performance and behavioral metrics, computational modeling, and clinical and research bioinformatics involving surgical neuromodulation patients. This core facility will enable development and testing of new brain-tuning strategies to accelerate the delivery of state-of-the art individualized care for patients with advanced neuropsychiatric disorders—be it those where brain stimulation therapies are already clinically available, such as Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy, or more experimental applications such as depression, OCD, eating disorders, and addiction. Development and testing of next-generation implantable devices, computation-based algorithms for treatment delivery, and clinical piloting of novel applications will complement ongoing evidence-based care for established uses of DBS and other neuromodulation strategies.
C-ACT is located at Mount Sinai West, Midtown West Side in New York City.
- Data quality control and archiving/use of the database server
- Multidisciplinary imaging data (MRI, CT, and PET) collection, preprocessing, and implementation of analytic and statistical methods using existing image analysis software packages
- Running automated imaging pipelines for testing predefined imaging biomarkers in clinical practice
- Real-time imaging data processing in the operating room for DBS surgical targeting applications
- Statistical analysis of multimodal imaging data for surgical targeting and parameter optimization for deep brain stimulation of neurological and psychiatric disorders.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in science or related field required
The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Neuroscience, or a related field, with a focus on medical image analysis in neuroimaging. Candidates with experience coding in shell script and/or use of JAVA, Python, and image processing software packages (Afni, FLS, SPM, etc.)
Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,661.00 - $76,954.05 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
